About

Superfly Funk and Soul began as just another regular soul night in the city but has fast become an established brand, combining a popular online radio show with a website packed with interesting content, a range of merchandise and a high energy club night!

The radio show is committed to showcasing all that is great about today’s scene, as well as recognizing some of the amazing artists from the past, offering a great mix for an ever-growing base of listeners. Expect to hear sounds from Curtis Mayfield and Donny Hathaway as well as some current day acts such as Jamie & The Numbers and Stone Foundation!

The club nights have proven to be one of the best nights out in Belfast and have continued to grow in both stature and in popularity, especially with the quality of acts who have been over to play, such as The Link Quartet (Milan), Smoove and Turrell and Men Of North Country (Tel Aviv). Local bands such as The Organauts, Freedom 35’s and Supertonic Sound Club have all performed, helping to play their part in some brilliant nights in Belfast.

Superfly Funk and Soul has also had the privilege of playing support to many great acts over the last couple of years, such as The James Taylor Quartet, The Blow Monkeys, Hannah Willams, Corduroy, Craig Charles, Lack of Afro, Kevin Rowland as well as legendary artists Pee Wee Ellis and PP Arnold.

Superfly Funk and Soul have worked extremely hard post-covid and even though times have been challenging, have continued to bring some brilliant acts to the city, hosting brilliant nights in the cool surroundings of Ulster Sports Club with artists such as Mr Scruff, Norman Jay MBE, The Allergies and DJ Format. The stature of these acts has allowed us to form a solid alliance with the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival team, regularly forming part of both their yearly festivals over a sustained period of time. As well as that, Pete has played support to legendary Acid Jazz band Mother Earth, London’s Crowd Company plus The Haggis Horns all in London’s iconic 100 Club.

2025 is already looking good, with Nick Corbin’s New Street Adventure kicking off the year, along with some other great acts still to come.

You can catch Pete and his ever growing record collection in Belfast’s Ulster Sports Club, as well as making regular trips to London to play alongside his great friends Deptford Northern Soul, as well as nights in the iconic Mildmay Club alongside some of his fellow Face Radio presenters.

There is no doubt that this great brand is continuing to grow as it looks forward to taking things to the next level in the near future, especially with the rapid growth of the website which also showcases their amazing range of merch, including looking after official product for The Blow Monkeys.

So now, you really can listen to the shows, attend the club nights AND buy the t-shirts! Onwards and upwards.
